Library Folder in SSD or Optibay?

This is not a hardware question per se but I guess you guys are the most expert in this kind of thing:

I bought an OWC 40GB SSD which was installed in place of my HDD and the 7200rpm disk was but in a cheap Optibay bought off eBay (it uses a PATA connector).

Is it better to have the Library files in SSD or would keeping in HDD be okay for maximum speed gains.

I dont have the capacity to have my Documents and Downloads folder in the SSD but Library could definitely come.

Any suggestions?

Just to clarify, this is what I have done:

a) Moved Snow Leopard to SSD (using Carbon Copy Cloner)

b) Moved Applications Folder (all programs were installed for every user) in the SSD.

SSD contains the following folders (not including Hidden Files):

Applications

Library

System

c) In Users Tab on System Pref, by Option Clicking, I was shown Advanced Options where I moved the home folder to the Hard Drive.

Now, for the user's Library folder Old HD / Users / moizm / Library is currently in the old drive. I am guessing this is the folder which contains Firefox and Photoshop's configuration files etc.

Would it be beneficial to have that folder on my SSD or not. Like instead of doing step (C) and moving the home folder to spinning disk, I can keep it in the SSD and create symlink for Documents, Music, Pictures etc which would be in the old hard drive.

Would it help to speed up the data access etc.

Mayer: I definitely do use TimeMachine but in this case, I just used CCC to clone the system files.

Your Library and generally all system files should stay on the startup disk, and you should probably make the SSD your startup disk as it has a faster boot time.

I agree with rab, keep your system on your boot up hard drive. Also load the main programs you use on the SSD. 10.6 is much smaller than 10.5, so if you've done an upgrade, consider putting a fresh system on and use Time Machine to reload your user data. Keep all your music on the secondary drive as well as all your pictures and downloads. If you say you don't have a Time Machine backup, then you don't care if you loose all your data. With external hard drive storage so cheap now, there's no reason not to have a backup. Most likely the first thing to fail on this machine is a hard drive.
