Why is my Galaxy Note Edge not powering on or charging?

Hey I'm new to the forum. Ok I just bought a Galaxy Note Edge online from Ebay and received it yesterday. Since then I've been using it and everything seemed fine except sometimes when the phone would sleep after not being used, the screen would stay black and the blue LED light would flash until I removed the battery and put it back in. I did that a few times and it powered back on fine. Today, I had a almost full battery and let the phone sit awhile and came back to find I couldn't power the screen on from it sleeping, so I removed the battery again. Only this time it didn't power back on and still hasn't. When I put it on the charger nothing pops up either, not even the LED lights. Charger works on my other phone so its not the charger. I tried the safe reboot and hard reboot, neither power on the phone. Not really leaning towards a bad battery but that could be the cause, I guess I could test it with a multi meter. The only option left is a dead Motherboard. I'd rather fix it myself or have it fixed before I decide to send it back, unless the repair or cost of repair is outrageous.

Anybody else experience this and find the problem and a solution ?

Is the Mother Board replacement rough ? And what tools will I need ?

Any input will help. Thanks in advance guys :)

Answer this question I have this problem too

This could be your charger port as well that is giving you trouble. The tools that are needed are pretty standard J000 bit, guitar picks, plastic spudger also heat gun or hot plate.

If it is a mother board replacement, there are technically two. The Main PBA and Sub PBA boards, if wireless charging and fast charging are not working then it is for sure your Main PBA board.

Ok new update....the phone just came back on, so could that still be a motherboard issue or something else I should look for ?

If the wireless charging works but not the fast charging it’s the Sub PBA if both don’t work it’s the Main PBA.

Ok it died on me again yesterday morning and hasn't came back on.

So trying a wireless charger will trouble shoot those motherboards?

Could the battery be dying in and out with a full charge ? Battery still was full the first time it went off and came on some hours later.

Could it be a faulty power button too ? How can I trouble shoot that ?

Can I test the battery and charger port with a multimeter? If so, what setting and voltage should they have ?

And just so you have a better idea, this time I powered the phone completely off and removed the battery to insert my SIM card. Once I did that, it didn't power on and hasn't yet in the last 24 hrs.

And which wireless charger should I buy ? Isn't the backside under the battery cover of the Note Edge the same as the Note 4 ? Meaning I can buy one for the Note 4 and use it for my Note Edge ?

Asking because there's not alot of them for Note Edge in stock but there are for Note 4.

The wireless charging prongs are different from Note 4 and Note Edge, so no they are not compatible.

I am having a similar problem with my Note 4.

Having tried the numerous cables and such that I have accumulated and a brand spanking new battery. I’m thinking it is something from with in.

There isn’t any “little” buzz feeling. for a lack of better word to describe. when the power cord is inserted.

Also. the phone had been running pretty hot and the battery did not seem ( old battery) to last as long as it should have. when it worked that is… Not sure if it’s related or not.

I have not had the current new battery long enough to see if it too was draining too quickly,

Any way, I am going to look into that wireless charger, see if it’s available for my cell. seems very convenient as well!

Tynan. I wish you well with getting your phone up and running.

Sorry that I was no help to you, but, Thank you for posting a question that helped me. and the others for posting and answering.
