dishwasher starts but then stops cleaning.

My dishwasher stars to clean you can hear water spraying and sloshing around but by the end of the cycle I end up with food stuck to dishes and soap residue dried to the dishes. Sometimes it even fills with water but it never goes anywhere. I have cleaned ever part I can think of that may be plugged. I’ve tested it and sometimes it works. But recently this isn’t working.

Answer this question I have this problem too

The information you gave is not specific enough to give you a diagnosis.

Are you getting any error codes? What is your specific make and model number?

Sorry forgot to add this.

It’s a kitchen aid model # KDTE104ESS0

As far as more information it’s like it starts to wash the dishes but Then stops working, goes through the cycles But the dishes never get clean. I have cleaned out the filter and screen. I have opened it shortly after it starts and there is water in it then close and resume the cycle and open it later and water is drained mostly out and display has light near washing close it and continue with the wash. When the machine says it’s done I open it again to dirty dishes with white residue and food backed on from the heated dry.

Hi,

If you stop the dishwasher after it starts to wash, are the dishes wet?

If not, either the circulation pump may not be working (for whatever reason faulty pump, faulty connection etc) or the spray arms may have the spray holes clogged.

Check that the holes in the spray arms (both upper and lower) are not clogged with scale etc.

I had the same problem, went through all the online discovery Youtubes and blogs, replaced controller, water inlet valve, plunged the kitchen sink, cleaned all filters, and still there was no wash. Here is my solution: IF your dishwasher is 5 or more years old with the above symptoms of this problem where it fills and drains and seems to go through the timing, but the washer arm(s) are in the same position as when you started, then it is the circulation pump. I got one from Amazon for $99 (plus $15 for extended warranty), followed a wonderful YouTube that was on that Amazon pump sales page, and the dishwasher cleans like new!

I took advantage and also cleaned behind all the manifold tubings that carry water to the arms (they were YUCK), and am a very happy 68 yr old grandma now.
