incredibly slow and freezes

I got my Macbook brand new in December 2010. It is almost unbearable to use at this moment. Any time I try to two finger right click the machine freezes for 2-3 minutes. It wont even let me two finger click icons on my bar at the bottom. Things are extremely slow to start up, and will close by themselves at points. Safari especially. Upon restart of the computer 1/3 times it will stay on the white screen with the rotating circle for 20-40 minutes. These are just a few of the most annoying issues. Please help!!

Do I need to get it reimaged and if so how should I go about doing it? Thank you!

It's new, bring it to an Apple Store and let them fix it under warranty for you.

Could be a hard drive problem, which is easy to fix. You could tell if you had another bootable external firewire hard drive to boot from, but you probably don't. Try booting from your OSX Install CD that came with the computer.

Put the CDin the computer, restart the computer. As the computer boots up, hold down the "c" key on the keyboard to tell it to boot from the cd instead of hard drive. When you see the OSX screen come up, you can let go. If you can run through screens there (don't reinstall or you may lose some of your data) then maybe it is the hard drive. If you still have clicking and freezing problems while booted from CD, then you have bad problems that need to be fixed under warranty.

Do what Mulder said first. With the except of: after you've booted from the DVD go to the second screen pull down menu to Utilities > Disk Utility > select your drive on the left and see if you can repair it. Back up your non-replaceable data ASAP. How much free space do you have on your hard drive? Check under the system profiler to see how much RAM your Book is seeing and let us know. Thanks
