Fans force air when turning on PBG4

Watching the Audi Channel one night the PB screen went black (that was before it stuttering on the internet connection).

When turning back on, the fans just keep blowing air and there is no display. Screen is black. No beeps.

This is 15" PBG4 - had for a bout 4yrs. Could the screen inverter have gone or is this a logic board issue.

Help appreciated.

Check the RAM of the computer try re-seating it, and see if that works. If not, you may have a much more serious problem, you may want to look into putting a shim on the CPU, and GPU, if that solves the problem, tell me, and i'll go into more detail on a permenant repair procedure

Not sure I understand what you mean by "shim" - can you explain?

by

A shim is a non-conducting spacer between the case and the chip to force it into contact with the logic board.

It's not the inverter, if that failed it would still boot normally, just with a black screen. As it is ramping the fans up that is the logic board entering CPU protection as it isn't booting, but as the screen is staying black, would say it is due to a failure on the logic board.

I'm guessing it's the logic board, but want to try some things first. I do get an intermittent chime from the PB, but then it goes silent and just blows out air from the fans
