not workng due to power surge

I need to replace the hard drive for model # ceckh01 and I don't see where it is an option, is there a different power supply we can buy that will work in this system?

jen, you seem to be starting new questions all about the same playstation.. could you please delete 2 of them and then just update the first question? It's getting pretty confusing for us...

A power surge is more likely to fry the power supply and/or the motherboard, not the hdd

My first best guess is that the diodes in the bridge rectifier died in the power supply. Replace your power supply and give it a try. Instructions for the replacement are here: PlayStation 3 Power Supply Replacement

I can't guarantee you the spike didn't go past there before the diodes died. But diodes die when fed to much current.
