LEFT and RIGHT next to the display - the bottom is not fixed properly

Hi Guys,

I just bought a new customized MacBook Pro 13" with Touch Bar...

I have a brief question - I recognized that the bottom plate of the MacBook does not fit perfect left and right next to the display mounting. Its a bit uneven and can be pressed in. Additionally its sharper then on other MacBooks....

Has anyone experience with it? Is it somehow bad? - I used to go to the apple store and they just said that its probably not fixable. They offered me to refund me but that would mean 2 Weeks with our a macbook...

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Cheers

Philip

If you just bought it you should get it fixed under warranty! I would go to an Apple Store to have them look at it and if need be get a replacement system. It shouldn't take more than a week.

the point is, that I am doing my study abroad semester at the moment and its a bit complicated to do this replacement in another country...

But still I would be just interested what this could be...

What country are in in?

I just uploaded two pictures... I bought the Macbook in Germany and now I am in UK

The images look like the center clips didn't get set which is why the center is bowed out.

While this is the Function Key model, the lid is taken off in the same way: MacBook Pro 13" Function Keys Late 2016 Lower Case Replacement.

But before you open your system I would strongly recommend you visit an Apple Store in the UK. Technically 'Apple Europe' includes Germany so I don't see why they would give you a hard time. It would be different if you came here in the US. They should be able to reseat the bottom cover.

If you damaged the system or tried to open it you could find your self without coverage.

Hi Dan!

thanks a lot for your answer! I think I just go again to apple and ask them to try exactly that...

Thanks a lot!

I will report :-)

meanwhile....

apple tried to repair it - same problem - They ordered a new bottom case to replace it. So I went again to the store. After replacing the original bottom with a new one its even worse...

Apple now offers me to replace it which seems to be impossible because I bought it in Germany...

by

If they offered take it! Don't be so worried about the German issue unless you need a German keyboard.

by

the UK store would take it back but they can't because it was bought in Germany with €... Cross border is not possible - this is what they say...

by

Only hope then is to ship it to Apple in Germany.

Euro's are still accepted in the UK so I can't see why that matters. Is the issue the exchange rate?
