Upper Case Replacement - MacBook Pro A1286 - Compatibility?
My trusty MacBook Pro (A1286, late 2011, HR anti-glare screen) requires a upper case (palm rest) replacement. Many of these are available, but do I specifically need a 2011 upper case?
It seems I can source a 2009 A1286 upper case with many components included for a good price, but will this work for my logic board / screen assembly?
Are all the A1286 unibody upper cases the same, or are these subtle differences between the 2009 / 2010 / etc versions?

Why are you replacing the upper case? You may only need a trackpad here.

The laptop was knocked off of a table, and the palm rest area is badly bent in places (the lid now won't close properly, and the trackpad is raised up from the palm rest). Miraculously the machine is still fully functional, so my plan is to transfer the screen, logic board, and basically everything into a new upper case. I'm experienced with assembly / disassembly of macbooks, but just wanted to check that my Late 2011 logic board (and HR matte screen) will fit an older upper case.
