Why is my iPhone not turning on?

So, I got an iPhone 6 Plus with 16 GB of storage, and it doesn't want to boot up. It's been like this for a few months now, since we went to New Jersey. We plugged this guy in to charge (using an AmazonBasics charger... could be the issue?) and.... nope. This thing refuses to do anything anymore. It's a very lightly used phone, and it's like new basically. It just stopped working.

Can you give a bit of history on the phone? Last time it booted, what, if anything happened when it stopped? Water damage, dropped, etc...

Have you tried opening to test anything, change anything?

It would help narrow down some of the things it could be...right now, it could be about anything :)

Last time it booted... I'd say it would've been around like December of last year. This guy's been like this for ages. No damage. This thing is near brand new.

My first step would be to check battery and charging port with multimeter to make sure battery is good and charging port is working to charge battery.

If both test good, I would then probe the VCC_Main and Batt_VCC for shorts, maybe a Tristar (U2)... Let me know what you find or if you need help doing those things.

Cool, thanks Michael!

Also, the thing's been sitting there for a few months. I'd assume it would have completely discharged by now, so how would I check the battery/charging port with a multimeter?

Here is a fairly short video that shows how to test battery and charging port:

If battery is completely dead after sitting awhile and charging port is not charging battery...that would explain it.

But if charging port is not charging the battery, then it could just need charging port cleaned out...it collects dust and debris like "Belly Button fuzz" and it cannot charge because the contacts are obstructed. If port is clean and still not charging you can replace the port:

iPhone 6 Plus Lightning Connector and Headphone Jack Cable Replacement

But you do not want to mess with removing the screen with battery connected or charger connected or you can mess up the backlight circuit.

After testing these, get back with an update as I check in a couple times daily as well as other good techs to give other options or points of views I may not think of :)

Good Luck!
