cant find bootable devices even pressing "C" or "ALT" key

PowerBook G4 a1138 cant locate bootable devices even i press key "C" or "ALT key" on startup. I tried also connecting an external optical drive to boot from G4 recovery CD but it only display "QUESTION MARK AND FOLDER". anyone knows to solve this problem??

The question mark means it can't find a system folder. Use the original installation system disk and boot with the disk in holding down the "C" key. Gray disks made for other Macs will not work. Retail system disks will up to about 10.4. You can also access it in Target mode if you have another Mac. Your hard drive has probably failed but first please tell about the CD/DVD disks you are attempting to use.

,i used the iBook G4 MAC OS X installation CD to install MAC OS X 10.4. Would this be the problem? thanks for immediate response.

As you can see from the results, the iBook (Gray disks) will not work on your machine. They are machine specific so Apple can sell more Retail system disks. What other system disks do you have available? P.S. have a doctors appt and will be back about 3 if you can wait.

Thank you for the information.... what system nstallation CD or restoration CD do i need so that i can re-install MAC OS in this powerbook?
