When should my phone turn on?

Just last night, I accidentally dropped my phone down the toilet. Luckily for me, I was quick to put it in a bowl of rice. It's only been in there for about 24 hours and when I tried to turn it on a few minutes ago, it wouldn't. I guess I'm just impatient, but is there any way of knowing when it's going to work again or am I gonna have to wait another 24 hours or so?
