Water under the screen causing a stain?

Hi all,

I was putting on a screen protector and made the stupid mistake of spraying water on the protector and then pushing it out round the edges. This is the screen now, unfortunately it has staining behind it:

Is there any way I can fix this without replacing the full screen at a cost of £400+? Say through drying it out or the LCD. I've tried pushing it out and there's no help, so I'm wondering which part is actually broken?

Pretty annoyed, but if I have to I have to.

Peal the screen protector off and clean up the water. It most likely did not get into the display.

The screen protector is off. I sprayed the protector, put it on the screen and pushed out the water with a card. I assume it went through a tiny gap at the top.

Not my smartest moment...

The water is inside the screen and it may already be permanently damaged. There's no simple at-home solution to this. Best thing you can hope for is to find someone in your area with a vacuum dehydrator big enough to hold your laptop. Once inside, the vacuum will lower the boiling point, "cold-boil" the water, and then the dehydrator will remove the resulting vapor. But even this process may damage the screen. I think no matter what, you may ultimately have to replace the screen.

I was skeptical, but indeed it seems that you have liquid in there!

If you're lucky, it will dry out a bit over time.

In my opinion, it is not worth replacing the screen unless it fails - which may happen if liquid also seeped onto the board of the screen.

I think liquid either sipped through the clutch, or through a weakness in the black gasket at the bottom left corner of the screen.

If there is no weakness in that corner, and you suspect it went in through the clutch cover, you may want to remove the screen, and clutch cover, and have a look in case some liquid is still sitting in there - which you'll need to dry out. I would recommend using a q-tip dipped in isopropyl alcohol, 90% or higher concentration. The alcohol will "dilute" the water and evaporate it, and clean mineral residue that can cause corrosion,

@ksmithz3 please tell me is it completely gone after 2 weeks ... and did you use the fan while your Mac was shut down ... I have the same problem .. the stain is reduced but there is still a fine bright lines in my screen can you please tell me ??

@Do3a Sale7 - Sadly, it likely won't be. The problem is two fold the water has minerals dissolved within it so when the H2O part evaporates what is left is a thin film of the dissolved solids will be left on the diffuser sheets which is what got wet. The second whammy you face is the longer the liquid sits it can corrode the small circuit board at the bottom if the water dripped down.

Find a sunny window to place the computer letting the sun warm it. Hopefully you still have a working system.
