VRAM Modules Pads or Paste

Going to upgrade the Kaby Lake CPU to a i7, upon reassemble should I use thermal pads or thermal paste on the VRAM Modules of the GPU, if pads what thickness should I use 0.5/1.0/1.5 or 2.0, like the ones used by EKWB on there GPU waterblocks, if paste should I go with K5-Pro, or the same thermal paste I use on the CPU Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut/Arctic Cooling MX-4.

iMac 27” 2017 has a gap between VRAMs and cooler plate around 0.75mm.

Hi,

so a squeezed 1mm thermal pad should be fine, right? Do you think I need to use a little more thermal paste on the GPU die, in order to have the contact with the heatsink? Thanks.
