Will cleaning my logic board on my MacBook Pro fix my display?

Hey everyone so my MacBook Pro has some screen problems. It has vertical bars on the left side of the screen and I took it to the genius bar at Apple and they confirmed that it was because of liquid corrosion on my logic board (they showed me a pic of it when they opened it up). They quoted $1500 for a repair!! Could this be potentially fixed in a cheaper way my opening up the back and cleaning the logic board with alcohol? Even if there is a chance I'm willing to do it. Thanks for the help in advance!

lol yeah, I was taken back too. I thought it was gonna be like around $500 for screen repair. I ordered the pentalobe screwdrivers and hopefully remove the damage. Question, is it still gonna be effective because the liquid that was spilled onto my logic board has dried since then? Thanks for the reply btw

It's not the liquid, it's the corrosion that you need to get off. If it went in via the keyboard and someone tried to turn it on, it probably got shorted out and the power on button fails. New keyboards can be had on eBay for about $25. It takes me about 2 hours to replace one. A novice can count on 3+ hours. There's about 60-87 screws to take out and put back in. I use a small electric screwdriver to get them out.

Nope the keyboard is fine. It went in through the upper vents of the macbook pro, right where the screen connected to the bottm of the laptop.

Is the screen connector corroded?

If it is then you may need to get the connector on the board replaced as well. Hopefully just corrosion on pins of LCD connector and still reusable.
