Why is does my MacBook freeze when moved?

Hi,

I bought a macbook pro A1278 2012 to repair and sell on a few days ago.

The macbook freezes when moved, both with and without the charger.

When the macbook freezes the screen comes up with a loads of lines on vertically, down the screen and then shuts down and boots back up on its own. Sometimes the lines dont show up when it freezes.

Upon booting back up, the mac doesn't display any error messages or anything.

I initially thought it may have been something to do with the RAM, I have installed 2 new sticks and the issue persists.

When i received the macbook and stripped it, bits of tobacco where all over it. I have cleaned internally the best i can.

I have also tested the HDD and cable and CD Drive cable (as this was not working at the point of sale).

I have also removed everything and reassembled.

I am completely puzzled about what it could be.

Any help at all will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

The Hard disk might be going bad and might be very sensitive to movement. Try backing up all data and replacing the hard drive using this guide:MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2012 Hard Drive Replacement.

I would replace the drive SATA cable as well here MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2012 Hard Drive Cable Replacement. More often it's the cable.

Sounds good if the new drive doesn't work as expected.

Apple will replace this cable for free if you ask. It is a well known issue.
