Screen not working when shut after replacement.

Hi, i broke my screen and decided to replace it my self using the guide on this website, i done everything correctly and decided to test before snapping the screen shut and to my enjoyment it worked. When i shut the screen in place the phone would not turn on or charge so i proceeded to lift it back off and as soon as i did the screen came back on. I have tried several times to close it again but same thing keeps happening, please can anyone help, also ive noticed that the screen isint exactly flush when i close it but dont want to push too much as im afraid ill do more damage than good and it will probably do the same thing.

Does your old one still work fine?

Hi. Guys thankyou for all your replies, minho your the bomb i covered the little 3 contacts and it worked straight away :-) but unfortunately the phone still doesn't sit flush, i tried taking all small parts off again and refitting but to no avail. I checked the frame and all looks good, so although im using my phone it is not screwed to together. My guess is that it has something to do with the camera/speaker but i really don't know what else i can do. Any futher help would be much appreciated.

You probably have something shorting when you close the assembly. I would check the display flex, there are three contacts that should be covered by tape but on some replacement screens, this tape is missing. Take a look at this picture (Step 14). Right next to the top-left corer of the bracket, there is a black tape covering three contacts.

If the contacts are exposed, then cover it up with tape and try again.

Some aftermarket screens don't really sit well. They're cheap for a reason. I would check the front-camera &sensor flex and its associated parts to insure they are assembled correctly. If something isn't sitting flat, it could be causing issues. Also check you housing and screen frame to insure they are straight & flat.

The screen i bought was an official iphone screen so fitting should be flush. After doing the camera/speaker thing twice im not sure what else i can do, grrrr really frustrating. It may have something to do with the two little black spacers as i kind of guessed where they go but when i have the time i will try again.

I find that most of the time it's due to not using the top screen hooks to clip the frame in, not bending back a bent frame or fixing the housing dents on corners and edges.

Do you have any frame damage that is causing the screen to not sit flush when pressed down?

It sounds like you have a possible grounding issue, but I've also seen faulty LCD's cause this. They would work fine during testing, but when the cables for the LCD and digitizer were bent they would black out.

I would do as Cameron suggested. Test your old screen. If it works, try another replacement screen to see if the one you got is faulty.

Check all the flex cables and make sure the battery is connected. After you tried that let me know if you see a backlight in the lcd.
