Check to make sure your volume isnt off first, because thats always a silly mistake. Next go to system preferences then to sound and make sure the output is set to the Build-in speakers. If it isnt, set it to be built in speakers.

Hope this helps and good luck fixing!

If there is no start chime, try a PRAM reset (keep the keys “alt cmd P R” pressed until it is starting two more times). If you can hear the start chime now, the headphone jack is probably the culprit. Do headphones work? What output devices are listed in the sound system preferences? If the only one is i.e. the digital output, I guess the jack does not switch the output options.

Hello, I had this problem once before. Here’s how to fix it (at least, that’s how it fixed for me.)

step: 1: go to system preferences, locate the tick-box for “sticky keys”( I don’t remember what tab it is under, sorry.) toggle it on, then toggle it off again.

step: 2: enjoy having your internal speakers work again!

note: this is how mine got fixed, may not work for everybody.
