i love my imac but want to use final cut pro
is their any way to upgrade the video card to something that has open gl or cl

Technically speaking ... yes you can ... however, it is extremely difficult to do. The first thing you'd want to do is make sure you have a compatible GPU ahead of time. You sure wouldn't want to go to all this work and then find out you can't get a GPU for your model of iMac!
