Can I change out my NVIDIA GeForce 8800GS graphic card with the ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro ?
My iMac is a Model A1225 8.1 2008
Both graphic cards are listed for this model

Not sure I understand why you want to downgrade your systems graphics. You have the top of the line system in this series. Here is one source for the GPU's that will work in your system:
If your system is working I would leave it alone and save your pennies to get a newer system (new or used). The CPU & RAM limits of this system limit you to OS-X El Capitan (10.11.x) as high as you can go. I do recommend you boost it to 6 GB of RAM.

Please tell us what problem you are having. I suspect your video card has failed and the high price of the replacement has discouraged you from replacing it.

My problem is that i have a blackscreen and the LEDs on the mainboard not shine. I remove the graphic card and the first and the Second led start shining.
So my Grafikchip is broken...
