Replacing failing hard drive (the original 500GB one )

I would like to buy a 1TB ssd drive to replace said failing HD, after having the local apple store guys diagnose it as such ... and am set to buy all parts including the solid state drive from IFIXIT, and do the work myself. This is the 13" late 2011 unibody Macbook-pro laptop.

I own no tools yet, except for the mini-phillips for removing the back face of the laptop.

So, my question is:

Do I just buy the ssd part sans fixit kit, but add the spudger and torx wrench into the cart with it, or do I buy the SSD with fixit kit, and rely on it to include said spudger/torx parts?

Your model is known to have issues with the hard drive/IR cable. I recommend replacing with the 2012 13" model.

MacBook Pro 13" Unibody (Mid 2012) Hard Drive Cable

Please tell us what is happening with your drive. If the problem is the cable and it has gone on for a while, it can destroy the hard drive.

Here's how to replace it: MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Late 2011 Hard Drive Replacement

Consider replacing with one of these:

Buy these parts

1 TB SSD Hybrid 2.5" Hard Drive

500 GB SSD Hybrid 2.5" Hard Drive

256 GB Solid State Drive

128 GB Solid State Drive

Universal Drive Adapter - migrate data

These are all listed in the guide.

It could go either way. If you want to be safe, just buy the parts you know you need.
