New Harddrive installed but OSX install fails

After installing a new Hard-drive into my iMac, and trying to install OSX SL, during install it gives error message with yellow triangle "Install Failed, restart and try again".

What is the solution, could it be Logic board? It boots from DVD fine, how would I know if its definately logic board? Could it be Memory Errors, has anyone had a case where it was Memory?

Answer this question I have this problem too

If it boots from the DVD then the logic board is fine. You've probably forgotten to format the hard drive. I don't know what OSX SL is. Go to Disk Utilities, select thew drive and format it. Now you can install a system.

I think he means Snow Leopard "SL" but yeah I agree, drive just needs to be formated before the install. +

I DID format it, in which Process the Disk Utility created a suitable HFS+ partition for me, so I continued with the installation during the DVD boot sequence. A minute into the Install process it Fails with the Yellow triangle message. And just asks me to restart and try again. I did this a bout three or four times, but it never failed to fail.

This hardly makes any sense as there any no additional symptoms, I thought it might be the install DVD that was scratched, but I burnt a new Copy of OSX SL and it does exactly the same thing with the new disk.

Don't know about Mr. Scholle, but my Snow Leopard disk is an upgrade disk that can only be intalled on top of 10.5. Mybe he needs to install 10.5 first then 10.6.
