Henry water damage is usually the beginning of the end . Even though you have it working now it is only likely to work for a while unless you take the laptop apart and clean it thoroughly using IP alcohol of 90+% the higher the better use a soft tooth brush to clean all connections and the logic board . If you don't it will only be a matter of time before the logic board begins to corrode and as it does it will begin to shot itself out. As for the screen short of replacing it you can try putting it in a desiccant of some sort and no rice does not work, silica gel does to some degree. but the screen may still need to be replaced . It may be a good idea to back up any data you may want from the laptop as water damaged hard drives are difficult to regain lost data from so if its working now get that info off it before it corrodes to the point you cannot retrieve your data. This is our standard reference page for water damaged electronics there's a lot of good advice here so take a look

Hope this helps
