Screen Replacement Touch ID Function
I took the phone to a repair for a battery issue.
They told me they'll need to replace the U2-IC.
Didn't solve the issue and was asked to return if issue persists.
I noticed that the portrait orientation and compass stopped working.
The repair person tested a different screen (I'm not sure why).
The repair person put my original screen back and the touch ID is no longer working.
I read that using an unauthorized sensor breaks the functionality. What if the original sensor was returned? Shouldn't it restore the function?
Is this a good question?
So the tech tried a different screen with its own home button attached to it but then put my original screen and home button back.
Afterwards I kept getting a message that the phone is unable to setup the Touch ID.
I tried your suggestion of holding down the power button until the apple icon comes on but it still says that it's unable to set up the Touch ID.
When I go to the settings to try and set it up it said failed, go back and try again.
I'm still using my original screen and home button nothing was replaced. The tech just tested another screen with a home button on my phone. Did that destroy its functionality?

No switching the home button from then non original to the original home button shouldn't do any harm.

I'm going to be very surprised if they did not attempt to try another charging dock.
