Is it screen or logic board replacement?

Ok guys, I have a dilemma.

I am fixing an iphone 5s for a friend who had her screen replaced from a 3rd party. The home button has stopped functioning and the screen becomes unresponsive. Red lines start flickering on the screen and then the colors jumble around.

I tried an old screen that I had removed and that screen's right side would not respond. Knowing this, I installed it on my friend's phone. The right side was unresponsive as I already knew, however, the screen was perfect. It did not flicker and the colors were vibrant as they should be.

My gut tells me its the screen but the place she repaired it at told her it was a bad logic board.

My question is, if it were the logic board, wouldn't both of the screens acted the same?

Thank you all for your help.

Depends on how badly damaged the screen and/or the LCD + Digitizer ribbon cable because you can damage it more if you improperly reseat them into the logic board.

The screen that I removed from the phone would start flickering with purple/red verticle lines and then the color of apps would become like a negative print all while the screen became unresponsive.

The screen I tested once the original was removed did not act in that way. The colors/screen was responsive. I had it on for at least a couple minutes (the original screen wouldn't last more than a few seconds before active the way I mentioned earlier).

Would a damaged port in the logic board case any screen installed act the same way? Or does it differ from screen to screen?

Once I tried the second screen, I reinstalled the original and it behaved the exact same way as previously noted but the second screen does not.

It is more than likely the screen.

Replace the screen and see if it solves the issue, it should do. :-)
