Red screen of death

Hello,

I have replaced the screen on an iPhone 5s. After replacement it couldn't boot up properly, I mean it stuck on the apple logo.

So I thought I could put it in DFU mode to restore it with iTunes. Once put in the DFU mode and connected to iTunes on a Mac, iTunes started to restore and downloaded the newest iOS. When it finished downloading it wrote "Waiting for iPhone". Ok thats normal.

But than accidentally on the phone appears a red screen. iTunes gives me an error 4013.

Thought it could be the front camera as I faced that problem in the past already with other iPhones, so I disconnected only the front camera, but still same error.

Thank you

Did you make sure the screws are not mixed up? Mixing up the screw can cause long screw damage to the board.

Yes, I did. It isn't my first phone to repair. I don't know how this is possible. Maybe the screen is damaged.

Try the old screen then? Also try without the front camera cable connected.

The old screen is cracked. I already tried to start without front camera as mentioned in my question.

Thank you for your response

Just to see if it can boot with the old screen. If not then there is damage to the board.

As Tom said, the simple answer is to put the old screen on and see if it boots. Yes, we know that it is cracked. If it boots with the old screen, you know that its a parts issue. If not, then you know that you need to take the phone apart and examine the board for damage.

Experience says its probably a damaged board.

Even a damaged front camera flex can cause red screen of death boot if you didn't know already.

According to Apple you would need to reinstall iTunes. And when Apple tells you to reinstall iTunes you know that's a dumba** response. Maybe it was caused by the hardware because the iPhone 6s also encountered the same problem and have to use the original touch id cable for it to work. Try put your original home button and front camera module in the new screen and see if it works

It is the original. Shouldn't it work if I unplug them?
