My screen has speckles about two inches wide vertically.
It does not happen on an external monitor. It's a band running up the middle of the screen, although it does not effect all pixels.

Check the LCD. If your MacBook is still under warranty I suggest you take it in for warranty replacement on the LCD. Otherwise replace your display.

Mostly agree but would check the data cable first. (cheaper). +
true. the lvds(video cable) might be faulty.
