2 MacBooks both not turning on one day after the next. Coincidence?

My girlfriends macbook randomly shut down yesterday while listening to music. The next day after watching a movie, I close the lid to my macbook and go to sleep, the next day mine is not working either. Both laptops don't turn on. I've watched every video and read every article. Tried everything. SMC reset, power button holding, disconnecting the battery, jump starting with and without the keyboard connected. Nothing works.

At the moment when it's plugged in the charge light is a steady amber. When you press the power button the fan comes on and only the fan. If you press it again the fan goes off.

Can't figure it out. Unstable power supply? Overheating? Change of climate?

Any help would be appreciated.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is the same charger being used for both laptops? If so, I would question the power supply as two laptops malfunctioning simultaneously at the same time is unlikely.

Did you do any similar updates, hook them up together, go to the same web sites, install the same software, drop them in the same bathtub to cause similar shutdowns? Are they behaving in exactly the same way? Are they the same identical models?

Same identical models. We have 2 chargers and we both use them at different times, whichever one is closer. I'm sure we go to the same websites, don't have the same software installed, never hooked them up together. We both use each others hard drives. They didn't stop working at the same time just one day after the other. We both just relocated to zanzibar and live right next to the ocean if that is a factor.

Try starting in recovery mode and run the Apple hardware test.

Mine has the same problem!! I read somewhere on the forums that if you remove the battery and put them back in it might help. But mine is a unibody and it's not easy to do this yourself! I hate apple for this!!!!!

I don't know why they've made these pointless unibody laptops!!! So annoying!! It has hardly been a year since I've bought it! I'm thinking of going back to windows!
