Light Leaks on the sides

I've seen a significant number of posts and forums already about the light leaks in the new iDevice, I would like to know if this is "normal" or something that needs to be addressed by Apple. The first batch of iDevices might be a bad batch or something.

Will it get worse overtime?

I doubt that the problem will get any worst over time. My 3rd Gen iTouch has leaked light from the left side since I got it last November, but never got any worst.

I have the same problem and I am returning it to best buy. Dirt and dust can get into the iPod touch and get under the screen. Return it or take it to the apple store.

Oh, no! Just bought one also, but haven't opened it yet and read about the overheating issue and now this! I thought the 4th gen. unit's glass was glued directly to the LCD and wouldn't have dust/and/or light-leak or dead pixel issues! I just might have to return it if I keep reading these horror stories! :(

I would say you are never guaranteed a non light leak Touch (or iPhone). I am with Chris Green on this. I seriously doubt that this will get any worse. About the dirt and dust issue, why not just get a case to minimize exposure. Of course if you have any warranty you might consider sending it back until you get one that does not have any light leakage. Just my 2cents...good luck.
