Operating System Not found

I get the Operating System not found when I try to boot up. Everyonce in a while it works fine. Prior to getting this error (the last time it worked) I rcvd a DVD not found error.

Any ideas? Could it be just replacing the DVD player?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

It's possible the hard drive is failing.

Try reconnecting the hard drive first. If it doesn't help, try replacing the hard drive.

HP Pavilion dv9000 laptop. Removing hard drive, memory, wireless card, keyboard.
