How to clean the inside of the screen

My iMac circulates dust underneath the back of the screen and leaves a residue. I've noticed that I can purchase for $14.95 two suction cups to lift the screen off for cleaning. I guess my question is, 1. Is there a simple way to remove the screen without the suction cups? 2. What holds the screen on? Don't want to remove and not be able to reassemble.

Thank you!

Nope, you really need the suction cups to grasp the cover glass as its held by magnets.

If you try lifting an edge with a knife you'll likely chip the edge and most likely damage the painted surface.

Bottom line here: Use the correct tools for the task.
