Big burn marks iPhone 4s

Hello IFixit,

A customer came by with his Iphone 4s and showed me something I have never seen before:

He explained: it started with a little bit in the corner and just increased bit by bit.

It is still functional so touchscreen is working normally.

Can anyone explain what this is and where it is coming from?

Those look like pressure points, most likely being applied to the back of the screen. If this is a replacement screen, it may have previous damage that is just now showing up. The fix is a good front screen assembly, and just make sure everything behind the screen area is in order, so this does not recur.

I also do not know what caused this. Pressure points looks nothing wrong with, Also the back of the screen look perfectly fine. Yes it was a replacement, so it probably increased with time.

New Iphone 4s LCD assembly fixed this problem.
