You mean the actual ringing noise, when you get an incoming call? I would guess the loudspeaker isn't working. You may also want to try and reset your settings first

i have the same problem with my iphone 4, is there a solution?
For 4 it would be the same answer. First try resetting your settings, after that try replacing the speaker box
