apple logo and progress bar then restarts

iMac keeps restarting freezes when forced to see usb for start up

Why won't my iMac 24' early 2008 start it turns on comes and shows apple logo and progress bar once it gets 3/4 done on progress it restarts

What OS X are you running? If high enough you will have a repair partition. Start up holding down the Option key and see if it is there and select it. Then run Disk Utilities. If that fails or you don't have it you will need to reinstall your system.

I had the same EXACT issue on my macbook pro 2013.

I tired to go into disk utility to repair the drive and check its health but everything checked out fine and working order.

The Fix:

I put the the computer into (Target mode) and connected another imac/macbook to it and backed up my information. Than what i did was i erased the drive and re-installed the OSX and it booted up and worked fine after that.
