What is a good alternative to kapton tape

Does anyone know of a good alternative to kapton tape that can be found at a local hardware store or home depot?

I'm looking to firmly tape something down to my logic board to hold it in place without having to solder.

so i need it to hold strong and resist heat

Its Kapton tape ;-}

Most tapes you get from the hardware store are not able to handle the heat. These tapes will breakdown (sticky mess) or dry out. The only exception is the aluminum flue tape which you can't use (conductive)!

Time to order the Kapton tape sorry ;-{

Holding something in place that needs to be soldered with tape is not going to last very long. What is it exactly your wanting to hold in place?

Good point John! Tape won't replace a good solder joint.
