Good free OS X hardware scanning software?

Hello,

I would like to check my MacBook's hardware details without having to open it. Is there a good (free) software that does that? There are tons on PCs, but i couldn't find one on Mac OS X. Thanks!

See if you have Tech Tool on your installation disk. This will give you much more information.

What is Tech Tool? The only one i found on the net is micromat Techtool Pro. It does not seem to give out much info about the components.

Click on the Apple logo in the upper left hand corner of your screen, then click About This Mac. It will open a window where you need to click More Info. Then you can browse through the hardware specs of your laptop.

I was looking for more detailed information, like the logic board serial, etc.

If you want the serial numbers from specific parts, such as the logic board, then you will have to open up your MacBook and take a look.

the Onyx freeware gives a tad more information under the Advanced... tab. But not to the point of showing the part numbers.
