Loud fans and extremely slow MacBook Pro after display replacement

Hi,

My screen was failing and eventually it died. Few days ago I replaced it with a new one. Although new screen works great, my macbook runs extremely slow and fans are loud right from the start. Did anyone have similar issue? I read somewhere that thermal sensor can get an error and slow the cpu on purpose.. I apple store they told me that they would have to send it out for a hardware repair. Since my new screen works i was told it must be another component (perhaps logic board) but on the other side my laptop worked fine on external monitor. If anyone had similar issue and knows a different ways to trouble shoot it I will appreciate any feedback.

thanks

Update (11/11/2015)

I was able to clarify and narrow down my original question. This cable from my new display causes my macbook pro mid 2012 run extremely slow and i get loud fans right at the loading screen. With it being unplugged works just fine. Any feedback as to what can I do besides trying to return display? I assume its camera cable since Skype and Photo Booth says no camera connection. Is it responsible for anything else?

ps..if it helps, if I plug that cable on the old screen it works well too. So its not my laptop but rather new display's.

Guys,

Good news! ..and some bad too. The good news is, I found the issue! After testing old screen against new and checking all connections I narrowed it down to the (I believe its camera cable). Its the one that tied in with three tiny cables at the left fan. When its unplugged everything works great. New display works great and computer runs smooth as it used to. With that cable being unplugged, I also lost the camera. Both Skype and Photo Booth says there is no camera connected, that how I figure its camera connection. Is this cable responsible for more than just a camera? Cause if I get partial refund on display might as well live with this. Not a big deal i guess, since I never used it besides Skype..But do you know anything about this? Could this be something that may be resolved in OS?....Any feedback on this? Thanks in advance!!

Please clarify. The cables do not work on either display? Please separate your results on each display. Also please verify your exact machine by giving us the last four figures of your serial number.

Mayer, it works on old display..Model A1398.....what does EMC 2512 stands for? It comes right after model#.......last 4 of serial DKQ5

update: just tried few things. with camera cable being plugged in - fans are full speed and Macs Fan Controls seem unable to take control of fans saying that sensors working incorrectly. Also, I launched photo booth and the camera on new display actually works. So its just causing my laptops sensors to act weird on me. Hopefully this info helps a bit.

Yaro, you saved my MBP, as mine was behaving extremely slow with fans at maximum, then unplugged the isight camera and all came back to normal. I was completely lost until I found this post. Thanks a lot !!!!!!!!!!!

At this point, I would replace the old display and take it to Apple, ask the good guy that told you to keep your mouth shut first and seen if he agrees. A good tech will spot if the display is different. eBay Buyer Protection may cover you on returning the one you bought. The repair they quoted you is called a tier 1, "Flat Rate repair". All parts need to be original and they will fix almost everything they find for that price, even the battery if it needs it. A small gratuity might be in order for the Apple guy but don't make it obvious, maybe a small gift certificate or iTunes gift card.

Yes.. I am starting to lean towards that..the only issue is that I dont have the original screen no more because i tried to replace actual lcd on it first and failed....thats why I ended up ordering the whole assembly...I know stupid me... I guess thats how we learn from mistakes(( The guy at apple said, the best Is to hope that they dont notice new display.... I guess I just got comfortable replacing parts on my older mac book so i felt confident in this task..Now I wish I could back track(((

All they can really do is say NO, and give you your money back.

by

yeah..true that...I just feel bad for spending money on display now I have to spend another 300...oh well....

Hey thanks for your time!

Next time ask before you spend the bucks ;-)

I can definitely try that...specially since I have an extra one from the previous display...but the new display is new ...can it have faulty Flex? Regardless, I will try that. Thanks. Do think reinstalling OS can help normalize system maybe?

What was the part source? What was the flat rate repair estimate from Apple? Did you tell them that you had replaced the screen?

by

I ordered the new screen on ebay so I cant tell how legitimate it is. Apple asked for $300. I got display for $200..At this point I regret not doing it because i would have ease of mind at least. I was there before and after screen replacement. First time they told me 300$ for screen and after they told me 310$ and keep my mouth shot about replaced screen (hoping that at repair they wont notice that the screen was replaced....

I read on this site that someone had exact same issue.....and apple fixed it at the store by re-attaching the display cables which i tried. The only mistake I could have made is at the bluetooth/wifi connection: the j0 j1 j2 three similar looking little connectors by the left fan. but I tried to reconfigure them in different order..doesnt make a difference....
