One of my USB Ports supplies power but does not reconize anything.

I have a Macbook Pro 5,2 Mid 2010 Unibody. I have been having an issue with my USB (BUS) port. One of my USB ports does not recognize anything that is plugged into it. However, it does supply power, but that is all it does. Is there anyway I can repair it or, reset the USB via terminal?

Thanks.

I would use 99% isopropyl alcohol on a papertowel and wrap it around something small enough to try to clean out the port. Most times the ports are dirty!

I was able to clean out the port, however it still does not recognize anything.

It doesn't sound like a software issue but you can always try using disk utility to repair the disk! Could be a logic board issue :/

That's definitely something I do not want to hear, however I have been thinking that myself....

I'll try the disk utility first, hopefully that will fix the issue. if not then I guess I am out of luck.

Thank you very much for the information.

The board can be repaired cheaper than replaced. Could always go that route!
