I can't access ipad 2

Hi, my friend passed away recently and I was left with her ipad 2 64g that I can't access. Her family knew I worked with electronics and gave it to me to see if I can do anything with it. It has been wiped out but is still connected to her icloud account. I'm stumped on this. Any advice would be appreciated.

Death certificate at Apple Store will solve. Had a colleague with same scenario once.

kookymommy, no reset will eliminate the iCloud lock. Unless you have the proper username and password there is no way to bypass it.

What about the logic board? Will replacing it do the trick?

Yes, replacing the board will resolve this, just make sure you get one that is not Apple iCloud locked.
