Replaced touch ID. Can I update IOS?

I have replaced my home screen and the touch ID, currently the button does not have fingerprint recognition.

I read somewhere that if I update the IOS, the update will get stuck as the touch ID is not recognizable. I wanted to confirm if this is true.

Is there any way to update the IOS version without it causing an error.

Thank you

If you replace your display on an iPhone with Touch ID, the original home button needs to be transferred to allow continued use.

Do not update or restore it, it will throw up an error 53, and has been known to brick handsets, why did you not transfer your original home button?
