Apparently I cant post a picture here so if anyone can tell me what the part is in the ifixit 5s teardown, step 18...the grey rectangle part to the left of the screwdriver in the picture. this is missing from my phone. Thanks!!

bridget, I believe I know which part you are referring to. It's no connector but it is part of the lightning connector flex. Replacing that by using this guide should work for you.

Yes!! (Old turkey) my sister also replaced that part but the little grey rectangle piece is missing. Not sure what this does.
