MacBook Pro 2008 not turning on

After many years of using a non official replacement battery, my MacBook Pro had to be always plugged in or it would turn off inmediately. I recently left it unplugged for a few days. Then the machine would not turn on until a few hours after plugging. Next time I unplugged it, would not turn back on, even after plugging it back in. The MagSafe shows the green light, the battery status leds show battery almost fully charged, but the white light will never go on. I tried removing the battery but the machine still does not turn on.

Is this machine supposed to turn on without a battery?

I am trying to decide whether a new battery will fix my problem, or I need something more...

Answer this question I have this problem too

These machines usually require about a 20% battery charge to boot. That's 20% of the original capacity. Your old battery may be fully charged but unable to hold the required 20% of original charge.

Thanks for the insight! I found the schematics and figured out it should be at 2.0V. But I have no way of locating it physically on the board. Any hints?
