More RAM chip upgrade

Hi. There are 2 RAM chips/cards in my powerbook. I would like to speed things up. What can I change ? One chip says 256MB. The other is Smart SM564328578NW3R. Thanks.

Update

So if I install 2 new chips do I have to run OS9 and firmware to get things going ?

You shouldn't have to do anything after adding the new RAM. Either 9 or 10 will see it just fine.

You currently have two 256 modules. You do not have to upgrade in pairs so you can remove one and add a 512 MB 3.3V 144 Pin SDRAM SODIMM (PC133) for 768 MB or replace both for 1 GB RAM. Here's the chip you need: http://www.ramdirect.com/vcom/product_in...

Here's a 5400 RPM ATA hard drive that will also give you a boost: [linked product missing or disabled: IF107-046]

iFixit stocks all the RAM upgrades for your machine as well.

As long as iFixit is providing all these resources (funded by parts and tool sales), it's nice to support them by linking to iFixit products when available, instead of off-site.

You're correct. My bad. Hopefully they'll soon provide a quality RAM search engine and I'll look to them first. Old habits die slowly and I looked first to where I knew the answer would be and without thinking that iFixit might even carry that RAM I put in a link to someone else. My apologies.

The Max RAM for this machine is 1GB, so you can upgrade the RAM, and a faster HDD, thats about all you can do on the hardware side. and im not sure if there are faster than 4200 rpm Pata drives for this machine.
