Best way to migrate boot image to SSD?

Im going to follow the steps to install a SSD as a second drive, but how do i migrate the boot image an applications to the SSD?

My plan is to keep the NON-SSD drive as a data drive.

I hope your not going to say, reinstall the os on the new drive.

For the PC there is a nice tool included with Samsung drives that copy's everything over to the SSD and makes it bookable. Does such a thing exist for the MAC??

Sadly, you need to format the SSD so you'll need to go that far. I do recommend you down load the OS installer from the App Store and let it do its thing and then use the migration services built-in the installer. It's quite easy!

Put the old drive into the external enclosure. Make sure you can boot from it. Install the new drive. Boot up holding down the option key and select the old drive. Go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility. Select the new drive and format it and give it one partition. Now You can either download a system from the Apple App store and install it and then use Migration Utility or Use a cloning program such as SuperDuper (free), and clone the old drive onto the new.
