Touch ID no longer works after screen replacement

After replacing the front panel screen, the touch ID no longer works. The home button works, just not the touch features. Setup of fingerprints immediately goes to a "failed" message. Can this be reset? Or, did something go wrong with the screen installation?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Did you transfer the original home button to the new display?

Try a hard reboot by holding the power button and the home button until it reboots.

I honestly don't know what I'm doing that's so different than everyone else, but I never have to do anything after a screen swap on a 6. Heck...I just did one this morning and even ran an iOS update after to make sure I didn't get errors.

The most I've had to do was reboot a 5S a year or two ago because Touch ID glitched. That's the only one I can remember even needing to do that on.
