purchase used MacBook Pro

i bought a used macbook and when i try to update at apple store it ask for the password, the problem is, another name, not mine is in the ID window and locked

i cannot remove the name so i cannot use my ID and password?

Update

I bought the macbook pro at a pawn shop dealer everything is legit i was told to erase the HD and reinstall it from my external HD then down load a new app store and this should work is this true?

Contact the seller and get the password or your money back. Take it to an Apple store with your receipt and they will usually fix it for free. There are some questions that I don't answer to protect the original owner in case this machine was obtained illegally somewhere down the line. I hope you can understand that.

Make sure to get the password from the original owner while you still have the gun in front of him. Once they're out of sight they will be less inclined to help you.

If you are talking about the app store then you sould open the appstore and then on the top menu bar click "store" and then there will be an option for "account". Find that and click sign out and then sign back in using your own ID and password.

NOTE: you still wont be able to update the apps which you didnt purchase from your own account.

The second option is that you could do a clean install of OS X, that will get rid of any junk the previous user might have put on there.
