Why does my backlight not work after water damage?

After receiving water spill, the MacBook Pro backlight ceased to work. For the past 2 years it has been used as a desktop machine with an external display running off the Thunderbolt port.

A new screen was ordered from fixit and I have just replaced the full housing but the screen still does not work.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Well, sounds like you have something wrong with your backlight circuitry. Have you taken your computer apart and checked the logicboard for corrosion damage etc? what are the last four digits of your computers serial number so that we can identify the hardware properly.

The computer was taken apart for the screen replacement but I have not yet check for corrosion. I will do so this afternoon.

Disclaimer: You will need a motherboard schematic, multimeter, laptop motherboard boardview, and basic soldering skills to troubleshoot this. Feel free to ignore my post if this is not possible.

How does the LCD connector look? Check F9700 for continuity. Also measure on pin 1 of the LCD connector to ground in diode mode on the mulitmeter, with red probe on ground, black probe on pin 1 of the LCD connector.
