i have 2 ipod touches disassembled the problem device battery terminals display 1.5v when plugged into charger and then 1v when unplugged - if i try same test on other ipod i get 4v on charge and 3.*v unplugged .
what is draining the battery i just replaced the power button flex cable as it was old and crumbled when replacing front panel is this the issue or could there be other reasons

Who knows. Stick a new battery in there. All of those devices are so old, none of them have good batteries anymore.
