Can I repair a water damaged SSD myself?

Any ideas on fixing my water damaged SSD myself? Specific areas on the SSD that need the attention? Carefully dried the whole thing and appears to be clear of corrosion. My data was backed up so I do not need to get anything off of it. It is a samsung 512GB so its more that it is so expensive to replace.

Thank you,

-Rowan

You're certain the SSD is damaged? They are very moisture resistant. Have you put it in an external case an tried to access it from another computer?

I think it is. At the Apple store they put it in a external case and tried to access it through another computer. All we got was a blank screen. Then they tried to start from the apple network and from there the still could see nothing of the SSD. Please forgive me if my technical description of what they did is limited. I am still learning:) I am pretty sure that is what happened.

If it can't be accessed from an external case it's cooked. I know of no DIY repair.. that's why you should have a backup of essential data.

Yup, like I said in post everything backed up. My interest is still more about having to replace a 512GB SSD. Not cheap:)

I appreciate you responding so quickly however.

Rowan Wade, Did you ever have any luck with this? Same situation. Everything else in the machine is great. I plugged the SSD into another MBA, and it didn't recognize it. This looks perfectly clear of corrosion as well. Thanks!
