help for identifying components on iPhone 4 Motherboard

Hi,

the LCD of my iPhone 4 doesn't work anymore (tested with 2 différents genuine LCD)

Only the backlight works.

I noticed that some components (red circles) were missing/broken on the motherboard.

I'ts at the left & bottom of the LCD connector (the vertical one)

Is it possible to help identifying them and some advises to find them ?

Thanks a lot

Cyril, looks more like physical than electrical damage. Any chance you used something to pry up a connector. Anyhow, those are reference designator:"

L14 is a 90OHM-50MA TCM0605 Common mode Noise Filter

L13 is a 90OHM-50MA TCM0605 Common mode Noise Filter

DZ4 is a 6.8V-100PF Zener Diode in a 0201 package

C83 is a 1.0UF 6.3V 20% capacitor in a 0201 package

C68 is a 1.0UF 6.3V 20% capacitor in a 0201 package

C69 is a 1.0UF 6.3V 20% capacitor in a 0201 package

L14 and L13 look like TDK - TCM0605G-900-2P-T201. A Panasonic EXCX4CE900U looks like a likely match as well. I would suggest Mouser.com or digikey. com for replacements. Of course there are probably many other places out there that have those too. Purchase from whatever works for you. Hope this helps, good luck.

Hello oldturkey03

many many thanks for your answer.

When i got this device from a friend, i noticed that it had already been opened in very very bad way.

There were missing/non matching screws, small parts broken....

Anyway, i'm trying to repair it for my daughter.

Do you think there can be a relationship between the damaged components and the non-working (black) LCD, despite the backlight works?

Is there a simple way i can "replace just for test purposes" the L13-L14 Common mode Noise Filter, before ordering them.

Thanks again

Cyril, not that I know off. There is really not a good way to just fix for test purposes. The parts are not to expensive and I would just do it. Damage like this is possibly causing all kinds of problems, so it is possibly that this may cause t lcd not to work.

Hi again,

i 'm just trying to find the Zener 6.8V in a 0201 package.

Unfortunately not so easy job!

Mouser and Digikey both have got a 5.6V Zener

and Farnell no 0201 package at all !

Do you think 5.6V could fit ?

by

Yes it should work

OUPS, one last thing : I can't see any cathode mark on the original motherboard Zener. Please can you let me know the correct polarity ?

I would harvest these by simple transfer from a non functional donor board on eBay. For iPhone 4 that would be pretty cheap. And yes, I can confirm that a no image problem comes from missing LCD filters
