Try booting to the restore DVD (or CD) that came with your computer, go to Disk Utility and check if your HDD is there. If not then its a goner and you will need to replace it. Depending on the model of your MacBook Pro, you may need a PATA or SATA 2.5" HDD. If it does appear, try running Repair Disk. If it works, I urge you to back up all your data because the HDD has been damaged enough to cause a corruption and is probably damaged and you should get it replaced anyway.
